Choose goals wisely

• You won't get a million dollars without going to court
  • Unless you're MySQL
• But you can usually get your costs repaid
• It's hard to get source code for large proprietary systems
  • Usually, these systems have proprietary components licensed from other companies
• You can almost always get future compliance
• Companies can usually partially repair past violations
• Some companies use GPL enforcement as a revenue stream
  • But you probably can't afford the time to do this
