Use the crop tool to select the parts of the image you want:




Note that the size you see on screen might not be the actual image size:


Scale the image to at most 500 pixels Y, 300 X



Now it's smaller. Save it. That's your main image


Now make a thumb-nail. Crop the image again. Make sure that your crop size is square (X = Y).


Scale the image to 100x100


And save the thumbnail separately
