How the GPL Works

Source or object files which don't include code from the library
- But include calls into the library
Still derivative works
- Despite little or no textual copying
No restrictions on distribution
Object files might include text of standard libraries even if source code isn't
- Because they #include headers
- Which include significant code portions
This is allowed anyway if the code used is
- numbers
- structures (such as SVr4's timeval)
  - and accessors (such as SVr4's timerclear)
- macros and inline functions
  - of 10 lines or less
- Otherwise, see works combined with the Library
